Actually, I should have said that Nabe, my Japanese friend, was the one who opened up my mind so successfully about exploring the world on the shoestring.
He had changed me completely into a vegetarian who dressed like a hermit since then.
I remember our last meeting in Bangkok when I stayed overnight in Santi Asoke Temple with him before saying the last farewell. Nabe said that with his long bamboo flute he could hit the road and travel as long as he wanted by playing it and people gave him money. At that time I did not know that a man who played his musical instrument on the street for a little dough was called "busker".
Nabe bought me a travel book, Kathmandu, encouraging a naive adventurer to pack up and take wing to Napal.
The Mahatma Gandhi postcard written on 29 November 1983 was sent from Kathmandu to me in Chiang Mai...
Another card impressively told me that he was willing to see me at the Varanasi train station..
Having substantial confidence, I eventually came up with my first trip abroad to Burma, Bangladesh and India, which was so wonderful!
The following exciting trip was made in 1985, I traveled to Europe via Pakistan and Grece.
In Europe countries, I had seen some buskers playing on the street and earning some money that was clearly confirmed about what Nabe told me.
One of those days I intentionally told my mother about my dream to travel as a busker to Australia.
